Trouw Nutrition – Hi-Pro Feeds, LLC, a Nutreco brand that has maintained a spirit of excellence since 1968 by anticipating and meeting the needs of our livestock customers. Our team works with Livestock Producers (beef & dairy), the Dealer Market, and Nutritionists. We are seeking a Commodity Trader in Comanche, TX. This position is challenged to develop and utilize trade skills in purchasing and execution in a defined market. This individual will learn market analytics, build vendor rapport, buy, and sell commodities, logistics assistance, contract management and settlements. The Commodity Trader is expected to build and maintain vendor relationships on the purchasing side of the business as well as with the logistics team and transportation partners.
About The Role
Responsibilities:
Market Analytics:
- Analyze market conditions, price trends and supply-demand dynamics
- Develop and implement strategies to capitalize on market opportunities and achieve financial targets
- Negotiate trade terms with counterparties, including commodity pricing, volume, and delivery requirements and ensure that all trades executed comply with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate exposure to price fluctuations and other market risks
- Track and report on trading performance, including profit and loss, and market positions
Logistics/Execution:
- Assist and/or lead execution logistics planning and strategy. Includes fundamental knowledge of truck/rail execution and commodity arbitrage.
Vendor Relationship Building:
- Provide vendors with market discussion and answers to questions about their business transactions, such as settlements.
- Contract management including reconciling balances with customers.
Skills and Expertise
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field
- 3-5 years of merchandising experience
- Demonstrated understanding of grain markets, hedging and commodity flows
- Knowledge of the agricultural industry’s trading standards and procedures
- Strong analytical skills to interpret market data
- Ability to work under pressure and make decisions in a challenging environment
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Ability to travel, as needed
